What is Botox®?

Botox is an injectable treatment that reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles resulting from repeated muscle movements. When injected into a specific muscle, Botox causes temporary paralyzation. The muscle can’t contract, so the skin on top stops creasing. Botox treatment can help smooth out existing wrinkles and prevent new lines.

What types of wrinkles can Botox treat?

Botox can treat expression lines, or dynamic wrinkles, such as:

• Crow’s feet
• Glabellar lines (between the eyebrows)

• Gummy smile

What is the difference between Botox and other neurotoxins?

Botox is a popular treatment for many of the same types of wrinkles that other neurotoxins treat. While Botox is the brand you hear most often, Dysport is another kind of neurotoxin that may be able to treat broader areas. However, the formula is less potent and more fluid than Botox (but it works well in large areas like the forehead).

Botox is also an excellent treatment for those who are no longer seeing the results they want with other cosmetic treatments. Many people respond well to Botox.

How long does Botox last?

Do Botox injections hurt?
